A social commitment to education

Last December, we had the opportunity to be among the sponsors for the event Cocina Sabores de Navidad (“Cooking Christmas Flavors”) held by the Puerto Rico Restaurant Association (ASORE, by its Spanish acronym).

This event, created with the purpose of supporting young students currently enrolled in culinary arts programs at vocational schools, gave us the opportunity to demonstrate once again Evertec’s commitment to social responsibility when it comes to education.

Throughout the event, the young participants had the opportunity to represent their schools and demonstrate their knowledge and expertise by preparing a variety of appetizers and desserts that were sampled by all the attendees. As part of the event, participants had the support of their instructors and received guidance from a professional chef.

The schools being represented included Escuela Ruth E. Cruz Santos from Cidra, Escuela Vocacional Eladio Rivera Quiñones from Loíza, Centro Especial Vocacional Hostos from Puerto Nuevo, Escuela Superior Vocacional Antolín Santos Negrón from Comerío, and Escuela Vocacional William Rivera Betancourt from Canóvanas. As part of the event, ASORE formally introduced its new foundation.

“Being able to support this type of event was an extraordinary experience. We were able to witness each student's determination to show their talent. We also had the chance to learn directly from them about the details of the creation of their dishes, which further highlighted the extensive expertise they have acquired. Sponsoring events like this one fills us with pride. Not only is it something that aligns with our social responsibility to support education; it also promotes a better future for those who will one day be the leaders of our island's culinary industry”
