Since 2006, Compensar has maintained a strategic partnership with Evertec, a leading provider of technology solutions and transaction processing. Together, they have launched a series of ambitious and innovative initiatives that have transformed their portfolio of products and services—continuously staying at the forefront of technological modernization. This collaboration has enhanced the member experience by driving greater efficiency, security, and access to personalized services.
With the goal of ensuring that Compensar remains agile and aligned with evolving market demands, Evertec identified a major challenge: the need to modernize the technology platform that supports the processing and administration of the “Compensar Multibolsillo Card” payment solution, as well as that of affiliated funds. The result was the development of a new Multi-Account platform designed to deliver greater flexibility, advanced functionalities, and significant improvements in operational processes.
However, this transformation came with several challenges:
Impact on the subsidy core
The migration process posed a potential risk to the system responsible for managing the balances of the multi-pocket cards—particularly the family subsidy component, which is a foundational element of Compensar’s financial benefits services.
Historical data integrity risks
Preserving the integrity of more than 15 years of data and ensuring a successful data migration were critical to the project’s success.
Overcoming uncertainty
Teams expressed concerns about the scope of the initiative and the risks associated with such a major change.
Teamwork played a pivotal role in overcoming each of these challenges. Through careful planning and the implementation of control mechanisms, risks were minimized throughout the migration process, resulting in a seamless and efficient transition.
Key achievements from the implementation include:
- Migrating approximately 7 million cards, beginning with two entities: Compensar and Comfamiliar Cartagena.
- Executing a successful, issue-free project while also cleansing the database—retaining only the last six years of relevant information, which included over 100 million transaction records. This significantly streamlined the system, ensuring that only the most current and critical data remains for Compensar’s ongoing operations.
- Meeting all project goals on time, delivering each milestone with a level of quality that exceeded expectations.
Taking part in this initiative alongside Evertec has been an enriching experience. Migrating to the Multi-Account platform not only allowed us to optimize processes and modernize our technology, but also strengthened us as a team. Most importantly, we upheld our commitment to delivering well-being to our members and their families through more modern, secure, and aligned solutions. We are proud of this important step forward."
